Based on a loose sketch I did in my notebook, here is an illustration of the famous scene from J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ (1937) where Bilbo meets Smaug in the belly of the Lonely Mountain. I loved the original doodle so much that I thought I’d give it some colour and shading, and I am very pleased with the result.
