Hello! I’m John Deehan a.k.a Dooks - a graphic designer & illustrator from North East England. I specialise in book cover design and characterful illustrations.

I studied a BA in Graphic Design, then an MA in Publishing, at Northumbria University in partnership with Hachette UK and New Writing North. I also completed the 2026 Summer Design Internship at Hachette UK, where I worked for six weeks across three imprints in their London office on the Thames.

I live in Newcastle upon Tyne and spend most of my time designing, illustrating, reading books, feeding my goldfish and listening to new-wave alternative funk music from the 1980s.
