Covers and double-page illustrations for Ted Hughes’ THE IRON MAN, which was a favourite of mine growing up. Initially, I designed a cover in 2025, but I have gone back and updated it. I wanted to give the design greater detail and shading, plus a far more dynamic angle.

Hughes has such an arresting writing style that, while re-reading this as an adult, a clear vision for this cover came to mind. Inspired largely by the opening scene, which describes The Iron Man looking out over a vast ocean with eyes like lighthouses. What this cover also has over the original is the addition of a little Hogarth sitting on the giant’s shoulder, which gives him a sense of scale and a real playfulness.
