I wanted to push myself and create a cover with as few elements as possible - leaning into a far simpler yet still arresting style. I became fascinated with the bold abstraction seen in what’s dubbed “literary cover design,” using a single distinct visual to describe a text. A SCANNER DARKLY provided such a visual - the two hemispheres of our protagonist’s brain split down the middle, riddled with “bugs.”

This was a lot of fun to make, and proved that I could design an impactful cover without needing an overabundance of detail and text.
